Kamphaeng Phet, whose name means "Diamond Wall," is a quiet historic town in Thailand's lower north, about 360 km from Bangkok. Once a frontline fortress city protecting the Ayutthaya and Sukhothai kingdoms, it is now home to the Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognised alongside Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai in 1991.
